Ministry on the Mountain
We have officially made it to Honduras and have been living here for a week now. We are living in the vast mountains right outside of Comayagua, Honduras. We are surrounded by a lively jungle. There are many critters like snakes, insects and tons of spiders! There’s also too many banana trees to count, haha!
The month of May is what the World Race calls an “all squad month”. This means everyone on H squad is living in the same place and doing ministry together. So all 45 of us on H squad + our 20 new Honduran friends are living in one place together. The group of Hondurans living and doing ministry with us are actually High School seniors. They are getting school credit to be our translators. They are the sweetest group and we have all loved getting to know each other so far. All 65 of us are living out of our tents, sharing 1 bathroom (which can get interesting hahaha) and 3 showers. There’s no wifi or service where we live and I love it. The sounds of the jungle, card games and good conversations are what fill our free time. I’ve loved living life here so far. The pace is slower and the days are longer.
Ministry here is hard physically but I’ve enjoyed it a lot. We are going to be building a church while we are here. So far we have done a lot of leveling the ground and carrying wood and bamboo through the mountains. It’s taxing on the body but honestly it’s so special that we get to do this type of work. Seeing our slow progress with the church day by day is really cool. We can actually see our hard work coming to life and creating something that will further the kingdom. How cool is it that we get to help build/ start a place of worship for the people living in these mountain communities? Actually getting to build the church from the ground up! Being able to see/ experience/ help the foundation of this church become a reality has already been extremely humbling. The people’s heart postures behind this church and ministry are incredible and only want what’s best for the sweet people living up in these mountains.
Below are some pictures of what a blessing it is to be here. God has given us some of the most beautiful scenery that we get to live in for the next 2 months. Wow! Thanks God for these breathtaking views! They really will never get old.
Thanks for reading!
