Oceans Edge was a really fun ministry to work with because there were so many different ministry opportunities. Our host and owner of Ocean’s Edge, Hannah was an incredible person. She ran Oceans Edge, made time to have meaningful relationships with the people around her and also worked a full time job with Remax Costa Rica. She’s actually the one in charge of Remax in all of Costa Rica. She has so much responsibilities but does them all with a grateful heart and for the Lord.
One of the really cool ministry opportunities we had during our time in Jaco was partnering with Remax Costa Rica and starting a campaign. This campaign was called Give Love and it was something Hannah had the vision to start. The goal of this campaign is to encourage other cities to spread love to their communities and people. What we did for this campaign was make a commercial that incorporated a flash mob dance. We did this flash mob in the city park in Jaco, where we painted a huge mural. Lots of people came out to join us and be apart of the give love movement. This commercial was so fun to be apart of. Several people on my squad had big roles in making this commercial a reality. All of the videography and film work was done by people on my squad. The dance was also choreographed by some of my squad mates. Lets also not forget about the mural in the background. This mural project was designed and drawn by super talented artists on my squad. It is a huge mural and with the help of almost everyone it took us the entire 1 1/2 months to paint it. Ministry in the city park was probably my favorite in Jaco. It’s so special to be in a place with people from the community and from ministry. Building long lasting friendships and memories here was so special.
The hope for this campaign is that other Remax groups around the world will join us and give love to their communities too. We hope it encourages others to love the people around them like Jesus loves them. Showing love to those around you can look like a number of things. It could be cleaning up trash in a public park/ beach or as simple as giving a stranger a warm smile. Think of how much better this world would be if we all just simply showed some extra love.
